"Officials from McDonald's Corp. (NYSE:MCD) have denied a news report stating that the fast-food chain may discontinue its employee health care coverage.
The Wall Street Journal cited a memo from McDonald's to government officials Wednesday. The paper reported that McDonald's cautioned regulators it may cancel health care coverage for 300,000 employees if the government does not waive a certain health care reform requirement. The world's largest fast-food chain will reportedly not meet a condition that it spend at least 80-85% of it's premium revenue on medical care next year. The health care overhaul requires that individual small and large group health insurance plans spend a certain percentage of premiums they take in on medical care or offer a rebate to customers.
McDonald's officials called the Wall Street Journal report ""completely false,"" but did say the company has been speaking to federal groups to better comprehend the new health care requirement.
